Ballast Water Conference - Threat or Treat?
Tuesday 8 and wednesday 9 November
By the time of Europort 2011, expectations are that the Ballast Water Management Convention 2004 (BWMC) will be ratified. This means that from 2012 about 100,000 sea-going vessels have to comply with this Convention. Huge investments in ballast water have to be made accordingly. Europort has put this current topic on the agenda with this two-day conference. This free to visit conference is organised by the initiators of the North Sea Ballast Water Opportunity (BWO) project. More information: www.NorthSeaBallast.eu.

Broadband@Sea, exclusive for shipowners
Friday 11 November
This interactive roundtable session provides each participating shipowner valuable input to improve its IT-strategy for their own fleet. The ins and outs on maritime (satellite) communications between ship and shore will be discussed during the roundtable session. What purposes have other shipowners with these connections? How do others see the future of broadband at sea? What experiences do they have with suppliers of hardware, airtime and applications? Some questions that surely will be examined during the Broadband@Sea session. More information about Broadband@Sea and registration.
